Psychedelic Use Doesn’t Have to Be That Deep

(Note: I don’t have the original meme readily available) Funny enough, I actually said something like this on the Zendo webinar yesterday lol. Some people seem to have a very limited scope of how psychedelics can be used. Some folks wanted me to describe every detail of preparation like you need to follow a common understanding of traditional/entheogenic use as much as possible before any/every trip. If that’s what you’re going for, then fly to Peru or something. I can’t tell you how to choose your spirit guide or whatever the fuck. Those people prepare for weeks, cleansing the body, strict diets, etc. It’s intense. Psychedelics can be fun and rewarding, sometimes it’s really not that deep. Especially since, as I explained in the webinar, there are multiple different types of psychedelics, and the way you prepare could vary on the type of substance alone and also your own lifestyle. But ultimately, no matter what, being mindful of your mindset, the setting, and your dose apply every single time to ANY of those substances. To get into more specific details, it really depends on your intention. Bwiti ceremonies use Iboga for religious purposes, but some ceremonies are reminiscent of modern rave culture, with music, dance, and communal bliss known as “one heart only”, which has parallels to the rave scene’s own concept of PLUR. (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect). . Many people’s association with psychedelics seems to be taking heroic doses and experiencing some kind of spiritual breakthrough or ego death. You know you can just take a sensible dose, be lucid enough to navigate a fun and adventurous experience, and still experience the benefits, right? lol. . Doing psychedelics don’t always have to be specifically about resolving some type of deeply-rooted trauma or problematic behavior. Let’s not forget MDMA was used as a group/couples therapy drug in its earlier trials (1977–1985). You should see how many perfectly functioning couples hit me up for test kits so they can test their shit and have a yearly bonding ritual with their partner, just to connect and express affection and appreciation. It’s adorable.
