He’s not entirely wrong however, I’m going to break down a bit of science that could inform a less expensive, less destructive (in more ways than one) choice than cocaine:

It’s commonly believed that cocaine, like many stimulants, suppresses appetite. A 2013 study loosely suggests that cocaine may actually interfere with people’s ability to store fat/alters their metabolism, which could explain why users are leaner, but also have behavioral habits normally associated with weight gain, such as eating lots of energy-rich fatty foods and drinking more alcohol. .

Addiction potential/habit forming potential aside, it’s a stimulant that basically lasts 60 minutes at best—that’s a lot of cocaine and way too high maintenance. There’s a number of things I can talk about here, as there’s been a number of stimulants on the market as “diet pills”. However, many may not be aware of/have forgotten that 5HTP has weight loss potential. I used to use it to suppress my appetite on purpose, so I could eat one big meal in the morning and then do drugs for the rest of the day without feeling hungry and spending money.

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an amino acid that your body naturally produces. It can aid weight loss by increasing feelings of fullness. It may counteract hunger-inducing hormones, working to suppress appetite and help you lose weight. It also inhibits the intake of calories from carbohydrates, which is associated with better blood sugar control and may reduce excessive food intake due to stress or depression.

Initial recommended dosage for 5-HTP is usually 50mg, three times a day. Appetite reduction may occur with a dosage of 600 to 900 mg daily. It is advisable to begin with 50 mg and titrate upwards. Large doses may increase the concentration of serotonin and may result in serotonin syndrome, symptoms of which include agitation, diarrhea, fast heart beat, hallucinations, increased body temperature, loss of coordination, nausea, rapid changes in blood pressure and vomiting. It should not be taken with weight-control drugs and antidepressants. The exact dosage should be prescribed by a healthcare professional.
